  1. 1.  William Greene was born on 3 Aug 1764 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg, North Carolina (son of William Greene and Sarah Ann Alston); died on 13 Dec 1819 in Capt Awtreys District, Greene County, Georgia, USA.

    Notes:

    Served as a private in NC and Georgia Miliita; of the first Batt. Richmond Co., GA Militia; received 287 1/2 acres of bounty land for his service in Greene County, upon certificate of General Elijah Clarke, 1785.

    In his will of Dec 8th, 1819 in Greene county Georgia, William leaves four sons and three daughters six or seven slaves each, in addition to leaving his wife Ruthey nine slaves and all his horses, hogs, cattle and sheep and his whole crop of corn, foddes, wheat, oats and cotton, his plantation tools, a wagon, all his household and kitchen furniture, and his house and plantation duting her life.
    Children in will: Lemuel, Augustine, Alston, Phillip and daughters Sarah/Sally, Nancy, Petey.
    Other children: Nathaniel d.y., Elisabeth.

    William married Ruthey Hunter on 17 Jun 1784 in Warren, North Carolina. Ruthey (daughter of Jesse Hunter and Anne Alston) was born on 24 Sep 1764 in Warren, North Carolina; died on 15 May 1826 in Capt Awtreys District, Greene County, Georgia, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Children:
    1. Nancy Green was born on 26 Jul 1793 in Rockingham, North Carolina, USA; died about 1820 in Wayne County, Indiana, USA.

  1. 2.  William Greene was born on 17 Jul 1734 in Raleigh Parish, Amelia, Virginia; died on 1 Jul 1806 in Wilkes, Georgia.

    Notes:

    William Greene Sr was born in Virginia in 1734. Married Sarah Ann Alston in Warren county, NC. Enlisted in First North Carolina Regiment under Colonel James Moore as a captain.

    He received a land grant of 500 acres bounty land as an officer for service, in Washington County, Georgia, Jan 24, 1784.

    Came on into Georgia and died in Wilkes County, Georgia in July 1806. His will can be found in Will Book "GG", 1806-1807.
