    • bouwman, daggelder

By the time Pieter and Dirkje got married Pieter had fullfilled his duties as a soldier. He was a "kannonier" (artillery) and received a iron medal in 1832 for participating in the war against those foolish Belgians, who rose up against the wonderful Dutch monarchy and wanted a state of their own. (1830-1832, ended with independence for Belgium in 1839).

Pieter and Dirkje lived as far as I can see their whole married life in the same house in the "Zeestraat" in Noordwijkerhout. Their son Pieter and his wife Johanna probably lived at the same adress for some time after they married in 1881 because they are mentioned at the same page in the census of 1870, according to cousin Jan Duivenvoorden, who also explains that the house on Zeestraten is probably the same as Dirck Gerritszoon Duivenvoorden lived in. Dirkjes grandfather.

In 1891 both Pieter and Dirkje are deceased and their heirs have to deal with a mortgage on the house that has to be paid off. The house was been sold to an inhabitant of Lisse, probably the mortgageowner. Sold for no more than 230 guilders, confirms the poorness of Pieter and Dirkje. Further information maybe found in a notary document in the archive of Lisse.
