    • Served as a private in NC and Georgia Miliita; of the first Batt. Richmond Co., GA Militia; received 287 1/2 acres of bounty land for his service in Greene County, upon certificate of General Elijah Clarke, 1785.

      In his will of Dec 8th, 1819 in Greene county Georgia, William leaves four sons and three daughters six or seven slaves each, in addition to leaving his wife Ruthey nine slaves and all his horses, hogs, cattle and sheep and his whole crop of corn, foddes, wheat, oats and cotton, his plantation tools, a wagon, all his household and kitchen furniture, and his house and plantation duting her life.
