    Mons Nils. Glæsnes emigrated 1869. Together with Peder Nils. Golten, Lars Peders. Toft, Johannes Lars. Hammersland and Anders Hans. Kleppe he registered his emigration to America in the church records on May 17th 1869.

    Mons married Julia b. abt. 1850 (emigrated from Norway in 1872). When his sister Anna died in 1942 the family had not heard from him in over 30 years.

    Mons Nilson f. 1840 melde utflytting til Amerika i 1869, og reiste frå Bergen til Quebec i Canada med båten "Erling Skjalgsson", busette seg i Clear Lake, Cerro Gordo i Iowa, USA, kona var norske Julia f. om lag 1850 (emigrerte i 1872). På skiftet etter søstera Anna i 1942 var det opplyst at Mons hadde vore gift og hadde born i USA. Siste gongen familien hadde høyr frå han, var for over 30 år sidan. Borna hans hadde sidan ikkje hatt kontakt med familien i Noreg, og ein visste ikkje kvar dei budde. Dei vart difor strokne som arvingar.

    The 1880 census for Clear Lake has Monson Nelson (41), Julia (32) and sons Nelson and Haldo(r) and Mons brother Peter Nelson (31).

    The Clear Lake Mirror, Thursday March 2nd, 1922:

    "Mons Nelson died suddenly
    Mons Nelson, a familiar and well know citizen of Clar Lake, died suddenly Monday night. He had been in his accustomed health and there were no premonitions of his approaching end when he retired on Monday night. Not arising as usual his daughter, Mrs. Charlie Glous (Glause), with whom he resided since the death of his wife in January, 1921, going to his bed room to awaken him, was given a great shock to find him cold and lifeless.
    The deceaced was born in Norway 84 years ago, emigrating to this country when in his youth, settling in Cerro Gordo county, residing on a farm until a few months ago, when he moved to Clear Lake, Mrs. Nelson passing away in January 1921.
    He leaves to mourn his loss four children, one daughter, Mrs. Cha.s Glous, three sons: Nelson, a resident of Minnesota, Henry, living in Ventura, and Andrew on a farm near Clear Lake.
    Mr. Nelson was a jovial character and had lived a useful life. The funeral services will be held from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Glaus, at 10 o'clock Friday morning, and from the Zion Lutheran church about 11, conducted byt the Rec. N. O. Peterson, interment being in the Clear Lake Cemetery."

    Andreas Nilson Glesnes f. 1843 på dette bruket (Glesnes gnr. 33 bnr. 8 Haugen, i dag Utanpådalen 29 og 31) d. 1901 g. 1. g. med Brita Rasmusdotter f. 1847 Lerøyna (gnr 4/3) d. 1888. Tre veker etter bryllaupet reiste dei med båten "Emanuel" frå Bergen til Quebec og busette seg i Cresco i Howard, Iowa i USA, der det eldste barnet kom til. Dei var komne tilbake til Glesnes då neste barn vart født i 1874, og i 1875 fekk Andreas forpaktingsavtale for ti tår av Wenche Prahl. Ho selde bruket til han i 1878 for 1700 kr.     Andreas reiste til USA igjen i 1882, og i 1883 følgde Brita og borna Ingeborg, Nils og Rasmus etter. Eli vart verande igjen hos fastra Anna i Bjelkarøyna. Andreas og Brita var farmarar i Iowa. Brita døydde i USA, men skiftet etter henne vart slutta i 1896 i Midhordland skifterett, ettersom Andreas var komen tilbake til Noreg i 1892. Salssummen for farmen i USA var 200 dollar. Arven vart 1294 kroner på enkjemannen Andreas og borna, Nils, Rasmus Johan, Eli Nilsine og Anna Maria på 11 år (fødd i USA). Nils og Anna budde då i Iowa, medan Rasmus hadde vorte med faren heim. Ingeborg var ikkje nemnd, så ho døydde etter dei kom over.
    Andreas gifte seg opp igjen og busette seg på Glesnes (bnr. 21).

Våningshuset og løa vart bygde i 1896, stova vart flytta hit frå Lerøyna (er no den austre stova). Næringa var jordbruk og fiske. Skiftet etter Andreas vart sklutta i 1903 med 513 kr i arv til enkja Bothilde og dei sju borna frå to ekteskap. Bnr. 21 vart utlagt på enkja for taksten 1100 kr.

    Anna stayed in Iowa when her father returned home, and lived with the Olson Family, first in Humbolt, Iowa, later in Ottason, Iowa. At 16 she went to Clear Lake and worked at a bakery. She was sent money to go to Tacoma to married, but the groom was not there to meet her, so she found a job as a housekeeper. While in Tacoma she met Olaf Tveter who was going to North Dakota to homestead, she got a ticket on the same train, and went to Minnesota. Here she met Charles Finder. They both worked on a farm, he outside, she inside. They married in May 1906 in Iowa. Charles enlisted in the Army in Feb 1907, Bernard was born in April. Family history says that the Lady of he house gave her money to leave him when she got pregnant.
    Anna came back to Tacoma, and Olaf found her again. Bernard was three years old when they married, and Olaf adopted him. Olaf and Anna had the children Elmer, Agnes, Harriet, Wilbur, Raymond and Esther.

    Anna married Olaf Engebrets. Tveter on 24 Apr 1909 in Washington. Olaf was born on 16 Apr 1876 in Rælingen, Akershus; died on 14 May 1945 in Tacoma, Pierce, Washington. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
