    Notes:

    Johannes Dahlseide Johnson was born near Bergen, Norway on Dec. 28, 1829, to Johan Olson and Maria Nilsdtr. Dahlseide. He followed the occupation of farming until 1849, when he took passage on one of the old time sailing vessels bound for America. After a voyage of seven weeks, he landed in New York on July 4, 1849.

    He proceeded westward westward by way of the Welland Canal and the Great Lakes to Chicago, and then to Lodi, WI. There he worked at the carpenter's trade and a farm hand.

    He married (1st) Marta Einarsdtr. Dyvik in 1853, and two children were born: Josephine Johnson, who later married Ole Tenold; and Martha Johnson, b: 4-18-1859, d: 2-17-1943 and wed Pete Johnson on Dec. 7, 1887. In 1857, the family moved westward to Worth County, Iowa, on the southwest quarter of Sec. 23 in Hartland Township on July 4, 1857, and there is where they resided.

    On April 18, 1858, his wife, Marta passed away, leaving the two small children, Josephine and Martha, the younger being only a day old.

    On May 30, 1859, he was married (2nd) to Guri Tollefson. Nine children were born: Andrena Johnson, who later married Andrew Hanson; Gro Johnson, who later married Jacob Reyerson; Alfred Johnson, married Mamie ?; Martin Johnson, later married Tina Pladson; Andrew Johnson later married Marie Jensen; John D. Johnson, later married Thea Holte; Maria Johnson; Tom Johnson; and Michael D. Johnson, who later married Guri (Gyre) Aase.

    Guri Tollefson Johnson, wife of Johannes, died on August 14, 1906, and Johannes died on March 4, 1908. Both stayed on the farm until their deaths. Son, Michael D. Johnson remained on the home farm after the death of his parents.

    Johannes married Martha Einarsdtr. Dyvik in 1853 in Wisconsin. Martha (daughter of Einar Ols. Dyvik and Marta Knudsdtr. Tyssen) was born on 6 Oct 1828 in Dyvik, Haus; was christened on 12 Oct 1828 in Haus; died on 18 Apr 1858 in Northwood, Worth, Iowa, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
