  Generelle notater:

Alice Lodoen, age 96, a 60-year resident of Bottineau. Funeral services were held at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau; on Tuesday, May 18th at 2pm. Burial will be in the Oak Creek Cemetery also of Bottineau. The Casket bearers were Glen Nermyr, Michael Lodoen, Matt Lodoen, Myron Lodoen, Don Moum and Merle Moum.

Alice was born on May 11, 1914, on the family farm in Sturgis Township, just west of the Souris River in Bottineau County. She was the daughter of Herbrand and Margit (Lilleslet) Nermyr, and one of nine children, eight of whom lived to maturity. Alice attended a local rural elementary school, graduated from high school in Westhope in 1931, and attended one year of college at Minot State Teachers College. After receiving her teaching credential at Minot State, she taught school for two years at the rural elementary school she had earlier attended.

Alice attended a dance in Westhope with an older brother in the summer of 1932, and there she met Milo 'Mike' Lodoen. He had grown up on a family farm west of Westhope. They were married on June 22, 1934. In keeping with the austere times of the great depression in 1934, they celebrated their marriage with a one-night honeymoon in a 'cook shack' on the shores of Lake Metigoshe. Mike was a teacher, high school athletic coach, and high school principal, and in following his work, they lived for two years in Deering, two years in Bowbells, and seven years in Lakota. They then moved to Bottineau in 1945, where Mike coached and taught, and they resided until Mike's death in 1971. Alice continued to live in Bottineau until 2005, at which time she moved to Edgewood Vista in Minot.

Alice and Mike had three children, Michael 'Mickey' born in 1942, Steve born in 1945, and Mary born in 1950. Mary resides in Minot, while her other children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren reside in California.

While living in Bottineau, Alice was a member of the First Lutheran Church, sang in the church choir, and was a member of the Ladies Aid, the Bottineau Study Club, and Modern Homemakers. Beginning in 1965 she worked as a secretary for the International Music Camp, and from 1970 she worked as a secretary and aide at the Bottineau Schools, until retiring in 1981. In her free time, Alice was an avid reader and knitter, as well as belonging to a local bridge playing group. In the 1980's Alice made two trips to Norway, with family members, to visit the valleys from where her family and her husband's family emigrated. While in Norway she met and visited with relatives from both the Nermyr and Lodoen families. She also made many trips to California to visit her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her most recent trip was at Christmas 2009 at the age of 95.

Alice died on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 in a Minot hospital.

She is survived her daughter, Mary Ringen of Minot; sons, Michael 'Mickey' Lodoen and his wife, Sitney of Cupertino, CA, and Steve Lodoen and his wife, Bonnie of San Jose, CA; grandchildren Melissa (Tim) Bruckner-Lodoen and Michael (Augustina) Lodoen; and her three great-grandchildren Arianne, Lucas, and Julia; her sisters Pauline Howard of Minot, and Lillian Jesperson of Minneapolis, MN; her brothers, Selmer Nermyr of New Mexico, and Palmer Nermyr of Westhope

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Mike, her sisters Inga and Gudrun, her brothers Paul and Arnold, and her grandchildren, Stephen and Jeffrey.
