Absalom Harrison McKenzie was born 1803 Pendleton District, South Carolina and died after 1860. Absalom won lot 101, district 6, section 5 in Carroll County, Georgia during the 1827 Gold lottery, while living in Rabun County. Absalom sold his lot to Young J. Long on December 9, 1833. Absalom bought 2 land grants in Randolph county, Alabama, containing 40 acres each in 1838 while he lived in Benton county, Alabama. Also in 1838 Absolum was given power of attorney over his father's estate and his fathers wife (his mother?) is living with Absalom in the 1840 Randolph County, Alabama census (McMinn County, Tennessee deed book F p. 28).
In 1845 Absalom purchased 160 acres in Choctaw County, MS. By 1850 Absalom, wife Sarah, and their 8 children are living in Calhoun County, Mississippi, found in the census p. 409B-410A. Sons Larkin, Jasper, and daughter Evelyn were born in Tennessee while sons Robert 1838, Hugh 1840, Newton 1842 were born in Alabama, daughter Mary was born 1843 in Mississippi to help trace the family trek across the south. Absalom owned 460 Acres in Calhoun County, Mississippi.
