    "William settled inland on 900 acres at the head of Alloway Creek. William built a bridge across the creek, so the village became Thompson's Bridge. He purchased a large tract of land located near Thompson's bridge, now Allowaystown, Monmouth Twp. Salem Co. New Jersey, later settling in Mannington Twp. Salem Co. New Jersey."

    Andrew Thompson was born in Yorkshire on 29 September 1637. He migrated to County Wicklow, Ireland and married Isabella Marshall on 11 July 1664 in Donard Parish, Wicklow, Ireland. According to "Andrew Thompson, the Emigrant of Elsinborough, Salem County, N.J. and One Line of His Descendants." by David A. Thompson (Albany, N.Y, Weed Parsons Printing Company, 1910), page 7.

    Andrew Thompson's journey for religious freedom took him from Yorkshire to County Wicklow, Ireland to Salem County, New Jersey between 1677-8.

    "In 1677, Andrew Thompson with his wife and three children (Elizabeth, William, Andrew b. Nov 13, 1676), removed from Ireland to West Jersey, sailing 9 month 16th in 'Mary of Dublin,' John Hall, master and landed Elsinburg, West Jersey 12th month 22d 1677. Above mentioned book, page 10.

    Undated, but between entries dated 24d 11m 1755 and 29d 12m 1755 of the Salem Monthly Meeting Minutes is the following:
    "Some account of the first friends that came over, and settled at Salem viz... In the year 1677 Andrew Thompson with his wife and children transported himselfe from the Kingdom of Ireland and Landed at Elsenburgh in the province of New Jersey afsd. with his brother John Thompson and divers others on the 22nd of ye 12th mo following.
    He died in Salem County, New Jersey in September 1696.
