Piet and Ans met while he was in the hospital, operated for an ulcer. He was bored and took up letter-writing. One girl was persistent, and even came to visit him in the hospital. She rode her bike from her home at Olympiakade in Amsterdam.

When his father emigrated, Piet ran the Rabur bicycle factory on Laan van Meerdervoort 321 in den Haag in his stead. Times were very rough after the war. In May of 1952 the company was advertised in Elsevier Weekblad: For takeover offered in the west of the country wholesaler in bicycles, bicycle parts and accessories, with excellent own brand: also large and well-maintained residential house available. was bought up by Empo (b icycle factory) in Vorden. family with first five children emigrated to Canada May 13th 1952 by KLM.

In June 1952 Peter was repairing fences in Broadview, Saskatchewan and in July he repaired bicycles in Regina. Then the family moved to Moose Jaw.
In Sep 1952 Peter worked at Moose Jaw Hardware repairing small appliances, such as toasters and radios. He was still at this job when the family moved to look after the farm of Ross Thatcher with 35 head of cattle and build more fences. In the spring of 1953 the family moved to the farm of Earl McCartney, to look after his wheat farm with pigs and chickens. Built an outhouse there, and saw the first tornado.
In Aug 1953 Peter quit his job at MJ Hardware and moved to Tuxford. He commuted for a while, then found job with CPR as a brake-man and moved to Moose Jaw, where they lived on Coteau Street. There was not enough work at CPR, so Peter found work at the Co-op killing turkeys for Christmas.
The family moved to 444 Grandview.
In the Henderson's Moose Jaw directory - 1956 Peter is registered as employed at Grand Valley Press, where he was a photo engraver, and aslo worked the night shift at a drive in.
Next he worked at Leonard Fysh as a camera salesman, until he opened Peter's camera shop on 32 High Street in Moose Jaw in 1965. The family moved to Queens Crescent. The camera shop was sold in 1975, and the location is now part of Ashdown's furniture store. Peter went on to work at King Size Photo Service untill retirement.

Pieter married Anna Maria Elisabeth "Ann" van Veen on 5 Mar 1946 in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland. Anna (daughter of Wilhelmus Theodorus van Veen and Catharina Maria Josephina Francisca Overwater) was born on 4 Sep 1921 in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland; died on 25 Nov 1990 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. When he got married in 1918 Johannes is registered as a smith. Moved from Noordwijkerhout to Roosendal on May 17th 1921 and to the Hague on Feb 1 1924. When he moved the Hague he had started selling bicycles (rijwielhandelaar).

On 1939-03-10 John registered the bicycle brand RABUR from the van der Raadt/van den Burg bicycle factory in the Hague. During the war he would smuggle messages to the reistance in the frames.

They had a house on 321 Laan van Meerdervoort, above the bicycle factory. "John had built a secret wall behind the furnace. There was a nazi across the street, who the boys would shoot at with bb guns, uncle Louie smoothed out the drama. The family also had to put up nazi officers." As told by daughter Ann.

After the war Holland was very poor. The business was ruined because of the confiscation of the merchandise. He thought he had to start all over again. After visiting his daughter Maria in Canada in 1948, they liked it very much, and he decided to start over in Canada instead. In Nov 1951 John and Elisabeth boarded the "Leythia" and left for Canada.

The Rabur bicycle factory and dealership was run by his son Peter for six months after the emigration. Times were very rough after the war. Johannes married Elisabeth Huberta van den Burg on 7 May 1918 in Noordwijkerhout, Zuid-Holland. Elisabeth (daughter of Cornelis van den Burg and Maria Anna Brama) was born on 12 Nov 1895 in Noordwijkerhout, Zuid-Holland; died on 25 Nov 1986 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada; was buried in Rosedale Cemetery.
