    W. F. Ewing, aged 62, a well known resident of Vera Cruz, died early this morning, at his home there, after a week's illness with pneumonia. His death was a surprise to many of his friends who were not aware that he was seriously ill. He became sick the first of last week and was cared for at first by his friends and neighbors, but as his condition became worse, a trained nurse from Fort Wayne was secured to take charge of him and she has been caring for him for several days.
Mr. Ewing was born in Decatur, on may 15, 1854, and was the son of Levi and Caroline (Mosure) Ewing. He moved to Vera Cruz forty years ago and has made his home there ever since. He worked at the trade of a painter and paper hanger.
Mr. Ewing was married while in Vera Cruz and his wife, Mrs. Sarah Ewing and their six chidren survive. 1. 2.  Levi Ewing was born in 1820 in Mohican, Ashland, OH (son of William Ewing and Catharine Gorrell); died in Mar 1866 in Decatur, Adams, Indiana.

    Notes:

Parents may be William Ewing and Catherine who had a son Levi b. 1819-1820 in Mohican, Ashland, OH, USA.

This Levi was married 30 Mar 1842, to Mary "Polly" Ann Andrews who died in childbirth and in Dec 1850 to Caroline Mozier who died between the census of June 4, 1860 and his supposed marriage on Oct 30, 1861 to Tamson Marinda van Camp (1846-1918). This marriage I believe is to a separate William Ewing. Tamson remarried in 1868. When their daughter Elizabeth (1863-1939) died this William birthplace is said to be Indiana (not Ohio).
