Sonen Henry Halvorson ble født 9. juni 1882 i Clear Lake. Son nr. 2, Herman Kana Halvorson, proprietor and editor of the Boyceville Press, was born in Ventura, Iowa, Aug. 17, 1890, son of John Halvorson Bly and Sarah Halvorson Bly. Both parents were born in Norway. Each settling at Decorah, Iowa where they met and were married in 1874. His father was in the grain business, and he engaged in farming at Ventura, Iowa, where they remained many years and where his wife died in 1895.
