- Per newspaper accounts from the time, the sport fishing boat "Spray" was capsized during a severe storm just off Pt Hueneme and all but two of the 24+ on board died and most were never recovered. Accordng to the newspaper articles "the names of four men lost on the Spray previously unidentified, were revealed today when Mrs G.W. Bell reported her father James D. Davis, 47 of Southgate, his two brothers Lowell W. Davis, 51 and Francis E. Davis 40, both of Los Angeles and John D, Mudd, 32 of Silex Mo, a house guest of the later were on board."
