Gustav, now August Wilhelm Dahlin, remained a bachelor and farmed next door to Aron in 1900. Gustaf never married and spent his later years in a rest home in Princeton, Minnesota. It is still in operation and called the Elim Rest Home. He suffered from severe palsy.
Aaron's mother kept house for Aaron and Gustaf on the farm before Aaron married.

In 1880, daughter Mathilda met and married Karl Anderson Sjøberg in Sweden. The next year Karl emigrated to America and within a year Mathilda and their son Johan left to join Karl in Stromsberg, Nebraska. A few years later, in 1886, Lisa joined them in Stromsberg. The entire family except Johan Alfred in Norway had all left for America.
