  Parents Benjamin Haas b. 1820 Prussia (France?) and Sophie Bertiner/Bonnier b. abt 1824-25 Bavaria (Austria). They were in the US by 1850. Children in the 1870 census for New York were Jacob 1851, Rosa 1853, Clara 1855 and Mike (Michael) 1857. They also had Pauline 1860. Jacob Haas (1851-1900) was a cigar maker. He married Mindel May (Mina Mai) in 1878, mother then recorded as Sophie Schotge/Schattehee. At his death in 1900 both parents recorded as born in Germany. Pauline Haas married Julius Leonhardt in 1878, mother recorded as Sophie Boniner. Clara Haas married Tius Marks in 1882, mother recorded as Sophie Bertiner. Clara Haas married Pierce Marks in 1883, mother recorded as Sophia Berliner.
