  Foreldra var Lars Håkons. Litlås (1838-1922) frå Kvam i Hardanger og kona Rønnaug "Rosa" Rustand frå Prestfoss i Buskerud (1845-1921). Holbert was a bookkeeper at Crookston, Minnesota. He was proud of his beautiful penmanship. He played in an orchestra wherever he lived with his flute, piccolo and violin. He came to Montana on a bicycle in 1909 and homesteaded south of Hingham with his brother Christian. He retired from farming, married and moved to Seattle, Washington, where he married in 1949. He spent some time in Hot Springs, Montana where he passed away.
