Leo Bessette

(1902-1977), worked in a munitions plant as a locomotive engineer in Montreal until the end of WWII (1945), when the Bessettes moved to suburban Detroit. Adopted June when she was four years old. He became an American citizen August 9, 1948. The Bessettes had purchased property in Missouri that included an apple orchard, but travelling from Montreal to Detroit, there was an auto accident, and the family ended up staying in the Detroit area.
