Besse had one child out of wedlock with Andrine "Kari" Andersdtr Bjelkarøy 1860-1922, daughter Bessine was born October 13 1878-1884 she died suddenly at the age of 6.
Besse left Norway in March of 1885 on the Inman Shipline.
He settled in Iowa USA and married Norwegian Kari/Carrie Anderson 1853-1905.
