Tofterå & Slettemoen genealogy

40.000 near and far relatives - here presented in English.  Gå til NORSKE SIDER

Gathered on these pages are near and far relatives, and ancestors mainly back to the 1600s, over 40,000 names so far. You will find genealogy from Hordaland, mainly the western islands, and Hallingdal in Buskerud, Norway.
Here is also a large Dutch and Irish branch of the family, and relatives in Canada, South Africa and the US.

This is quite a puzzle, and I am continously working to check and doublecheck available sources. All suggestions welcome!

VAN VEEN / VAN DER RAADT / VAN DEN BURG in Holland and Canada: On these pages you will find widespread genealogy for the van Veen, van der Raadt and van den Burg branches of our family tree. It all began in Holland some 300 years ago. Today van Veen, from western parts of Holland, the Drecht area, is one of the more common Dutch last names. For those with special interests, I have an extensive family history from Kudelstart, many thanks to our cousin Paul van Veen in Reeuwÿk. I also have quite good documentation on the van den Burg side, thanks to our cousins Jan van den Burg and Marian Williamson (nee van den Burg). The van der Raadt genealogy is unveiled, thanks to our cousins Wim Fase and Olaf Duits!

CASEY / BASS / MASSEY / SHOEMAKER / MC AFEE in the US: On these pages you will find the Casey history and lineage complied by retired Col. Donald E. Casey. This is Daniels grandfathers side, which trails back to Co. Cork in Ireland in the 1500s. You will also find the Bass and Massey genealogy on Daniels grandmothers side, trailing back to Theophilus Bass, a member of the Legislature in Jefferson City, from Taney County, Missouri, on one side. And on the other, back to the Irish James Massey, who came to the US to seek his fortune, and was one of the earliest pioneers in Greene county, Missouri, just east of what is now the city of Springfield. James Massey was a captain in the war of 1812. The McAfees came from Antrim / Ulster to Missouri in the 1830s.
