Sivert Anders. Hordnes
General Notes: Farmer, carpenter, shipwright, fisherman Sivert Anders. Hordnes, and his father-in-law Sivert Ols. Nygaardsvig drowned in the Korsfjord at the entrance to the Fanafjord when their fishing boat overturned in a storm Feb 27th 1869. Having lost both her father and her husband the widow married her second cousin Frederick Larsen. Frederick adopted the three sons of Sivert Andersen Hordnes. Their names were Angel, Sigvart and Emil. Sigvart and Emil where identical twins. Some years later the Larsen family left Norway on the ship <Debora> and settled in South Africa. Sivert married Marie Elisabeth Sivertsdtr. Olsen Nygaardsvig, daughter of Sivert Ols. Nygaardsvig and Birthe Serine Torkelsdtr. Møller, on 17 Sep 1865 in Askøy. (Marie Elisabeth Sivertsdtr. Olsen Nygaardsvig was born in 1844 in Nygårdsviken, Bergen, christened on 1 Sep 1844 in Askøy and died in Aug 1916 in Oribi, Natal, SA.) |
