He was a shoemaker. Also known as Grosch.
He lived at the poor farm in Adams county from 1892, after living with his son Mike, for awhile. Mike got married a second time in 1891 and moved to Ohio.
His death record in 1903 states he was divorced.

Walter married Mary Ann Weist, daughter of Peter Weist and Margaret Elizabeth Albrecht, on 26 Aug 1860 in Nottingham, Wells, Indiana, United States. (Mary Ann Weist was born on 30 May 1823 in Allentown, Lehigh, Pennsylvania and died on 30 Aug 1900 in Marion Co., OH.)
