Jacob Moser came to America from Berne, Switzerland in 1765. He settled in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. He bought 100 acres of land in 1770, for $500 in what is now Philadelphia. They were members of the Lutheran Church in Switzlerland. His six brothers and two sisters came with him to America. Some of them settled in Burkes County, Penn. The brothers' names were Burkhart, Fredrick, Franklin, Adam, John and Henry. The sisters were May and Catherine. Later John, Henry , Fredric, Adam and Franklin emigrated to North and South Carolina.
Jacob and Burkhart remained in Pennsylvania, Burk Moser remained single, bought 416 acres of land on Panther Creek called Bowens Grove, in the hills of Schuylkill County, Penn. In the year 1776. Burkhart died about 1845. Later the LeHigh Coal Company bought the land and paid $7,000,000 for it and the largest hard coal company in the US developed.
One of the girls married Russell Colt and moved to New York State. The boys were born to this union, Jack and Lionel. Jack became the father of the great stage and screen people, the Barrymore's.
Fredric went to North Carolina and married and became the father of eleven children. His grandson, John, son of Michael, married Barbara Meretz, decendent of the Royal House of Saxony.
One son, Jacob Jr., was 6'2" and weighed 180 pounds and was dark complectioned. He left home when he was 20 years of age and came to Masselon, Ohio and married Susana Whitimire.
