Bluffton Weekly Chronicle - Mar 8 1916, obituary, Frank Ewing. W. F. Ewing, aged 62, a well known resident of Vera Cruz, died early this morning, at his home there, after a week's illness with pneumonia. His death was a surprise to many of his friends who were not aware that he was seriously ill. He became sick the first of last week and was cared for at first by his friends and neighbors, but as his condition became worse, a trained nurse from Fort Wayne was secured to take charge of him and she has been caring for him for several days. Mr. Ewing was born in Decatur, on may 15, 1854, and was the son of Levi and Caroline (Mosure) Ewing. He moved to Vera Cruz forty years ago and has made his home there ever since. He worked at the trade of a painter and paper hanger. Mr. Ewing was married while in Vera Cruz and his wife, Mrs. Sarah Ewing and their six chidren survive. Mrs. Ewing and the children are all residents of California and the children are as follows: Will Ewing, San Francisco; Mrs. J. E. McLain, Oakland, Cal; Chauncey Ewing, Okland, Cal.; Mrs. Linnie McClanaghan, exact residence in California not reported; Lewis Ewing, Sand Francisco; and Miss Marie Ewing, San Francisco. There is also one half-brother, D.E. Shoemaker, of Coshocton, Ohio. The funeral will be held on Thursday morning at ten o'clock at Mr. Ewing's late home in charge of Rev. W. H. Schroer and the interment will be at the St. Johns cemetery at Vera Cruz.
