Obituary, Virginian-Pilot, November 22, 2005:
Dorothy M. Orriss, 85, passed away Nov. 21, 2005, in a local hospital. Born in Portsmouth, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Dorsey B. and Mary Adeline Tisdale. She was a past deacon and member of Willowwood Presbyterian Church in Norfolk. She was a graduate of Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn, N.Y., and retired as a registered nurse. Before returing to Virginia, Dorothy and her family resided in Mountain Lake, N.J., and Hempstead, N.Y. Dorothy leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Kathi McGinley and her husband Tim of Virginia Beach; three sons, Rick Orriss and his wife Linda of New Jersey, Rob Orriss and his wife Erika, also of New Jersey and Dale Orriss and his wife Erika of Florida. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, Kim, Dianne, Courtney, Ben, Ollie, Shane, Torryn, Kelly, Erin, Trevor, Taylor, Kylee, Jonathan, Padraic, Conor and Jessica; seven great-grandchildren, Sierra, Zane, Sydney, Jeremy, Conor, Nathan and Sophia; and her brother, Dorsey B. Tisdale III and his wife Loetta of Norfolk. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Kenneth G. Orriss. A funeral will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at Willowwood Presbyterian Church in Norfolk with the Rev. Frank Drake officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Willowwood Presbyterian Church in Norfolk. Altmeyer Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Dorothy married Kenneth Orriss on 20 Jun 1943 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, USA. (Kenneth Orriss was born on 13 Nov 1921 in Union City, NJ and died on 18 Dec 1995.)
